A Very Bad Choice
One of the dumbest things a parent could be drawn into at Disney World is buying a $5 Disney Character's Autograph book. Megan's friend across the street got one, and now we had to get an equal or greater number of autographs. It is a diabolical strategy to shorten ride lines by tying up families with small children in hurrendous "Character Signing" lines. It is part of the dark underbelly of the park. This was one of our first with the Chip and Dales. Megan was completely pulled in, we had to negotiate every ride or other non-character signing event. We waited hours upon hours and did in fact get more "autographs" than our neighbor's girl...but we paid a heavy price.
Pluto is Goofy
We all know these are costumes, right? We waited how long to get the autograph of some sweaty unknown person in side this dog? Someday Megan will pay for putting us through this...some day.

For Love or Money
I felt Disney was the right place to teach my kids about economic prudence... it somehow seemed the right thing to do after being asked 8,000 times for a popsicle ($3), a squirt bottle with a fan on it ($20), a frozen banana ($2.50), stuffed animals ($25), Cindarella sunglasses ($16). I gave them each $20 and said that was it. They all put the $20 in their pockets and resumed the begging campaign. They all left the park with most of what they wanted...and a $20 bonus.
The Scariest Ride
This was one of the scariest rides in the park, and the guy's shirt in front of us didn't help either.
The Happiest Place on Earth...
This was stop one on a gruelling two day tour of Disney Word...note that none are yet covered in sweat and no fights have yet broken out.
Underwater
We stayed at the Sheraton Bal Harbor beach-side hotel in Miami. They have spectacular pools, and are right on the beach. Being amphibian, this was easily Alex and Megan's favorite part of the vacation. During our three days there, this was the only moment they were both caught above water at once.
Confidence or Dilusion
Yes, that's right. I took my shirt off at the beach and I'm not sorry. The water was clear and warm as bath water. I peeled three times.
Feeding Bread to Bears & Buffalo
We were close enough to the Florida Keys that we thought we would make a trip to these "tropical islands" in the Carribean. We visited "Theatre of the Sea" which we thought would be like Sea World. In fact it was much closer Justin's Zoo. Here the woman is feeding shrip guts to nurse sharks. The best part for the kids was catching lizards on the side walks.I say skip the Keys, it's like the Ozark's of Florida. One continuous yard sale--or Sea World scam.
Fear of Dinosaur
The kids are pictured here with a scary dinosaur, and are sitting on a giant green lizard. Summer insisted on going with Holly and the kids on the dinosaur ride around the corner. They waited in line for 30 minutes and just as they were getting in the cars, Summer freaked out and they had to leave. The other kids were really mad at Summer and they back glarring and scowling at Summer, so I took them without her. Interestingly...both kids were so scared they burried their heads in my shirt through the entire ride and didn't see a single thing. Perhaps, Summer had her revenge.
Summer Spectacular
Summer deserves more attention, so I'm posting a series of pictures that I will entitle: "The Luster Family Summer Spectacular." We will cleverly highlight both Summer and summer in our neighborhood.
Fairies
Summer is really into princesses--and fairies. She had a "fairy" party today and afterward we went to a nursury. We couldn't resist buying this for her, she said she would wake up each morning and check for fairies living in the flowers.
Looking for Bunnies
We have little rabbits that come out of the woods to eat our clover (which is what we have instead of grass--it has taken over--I can't believe how hard it is to grow grass). Summer is sure this is the home of either a rabbit...or maybe a fairy.
