Mariela and Brinlee B-Day

We are getting ready for the big day this Wednesday.
Mariela and Brinlee want a Dora the Explora party. We
are also going camping on Friday as a family.

I posted this message to the blog by emailing:

I wasn't there

Where was I? --Oh, I was back in Ephraim shoveling
turkey manuer (or lifeguarding as the case may have
been) so that I could afford to go on a mission.

Several important questions remain outstanding with
regard to my absence on this trip:
Did mom and dad really plan to pay for my mission and
just didn't have enough room in the car? Could the
family have saved the money spent gambling and in
lavish hotels around the country to pay for my
mission? Are my questions just another example of
middle-child syndrom run amuk?
-Or were mom and dad just trying to give me the
lattitude/solitude/courage to finally kiss a girl
before I left for college to aswage their own
discomfort with my status?

Still, I would like to have driven through that tree
with the tunnel in it...

Tahoe Vacation Posted by Hello

Lake Tahoe Vacation

I may be in the minority but I actually like my In-Laws. Enough so that I’m willing to go on vacations with them.

I remember a vacation back in 1988 or 1989 to the Redwood forest, the ocean and lake Tahoe. Back then Justin was a lot of fun. I heard stories of him gambling and even willing to spend money. I think he was still on the frugal side. Jamie was a lot of fun also because she was kid of like a little sister to me.

I’m also glad Jim didn’t disown me after he let me drive the red buick part of the way and of course being young I wanted to drive much faster than was needful.

I remember Jim and Joey letting Justin whittle a stick in the back seat just to keep him occupied. Also, Justin almost fell of the ledge into Lake Tahoe. Good vacation.

This is a picture that Terry sent us. I have to ask, what is Terry wearing? I know it was the '80s, but you are the only one wearing a button up shirt. Posted by Hello

Welcome - Getting Started

Are you ready to blog? Welcome to the Luster Family blog! This will help us communicate with the family better over the Internet. First of all let me just say that Google is awesome. I love the company. They are so good, so clean and simple, and so free. Blogger.com is run by Google and is a free way to "blog." What is a "blog?" Basically it is an online journal. It is designed so that anyone can easily edit their web journal.

Anyway this is how we will do it:

1) You will get an invitation via email to join the LusterFamily blog. That will allow you to add posts to the LusterFamily blog. These are central posts for everyone to see.

2) Create your own blog for your family. If you can't do this ask your 13 year old. Then send me the URL (i.e. http://justinandalyse.blogspot.com) and I will add it to the left under the Family Blogs section.

3) OK, here comes the coolest part: www.picasa.com
Picasa is also from our favorite company, Google. Man they do things well. Picasa is an excellent, easy, and free, photo organizer and publisher. Go to
www.picasa.com and download and install the program (consult 13 year old). Picasa will allow you to publish things very easily to your family blog. What this also does is make your picture Internet friendly (reduces your huge photo file size). To do this you will also need to install "Hello", also from Google. Picasa will help you do this.

Enjoy. And happy blogging.
